Visiting Doctor in New Zealand

New Zealand is a great place to visit. We have one of the most beautiful sceneries in the world and our people are friendly! Unfortunately, the medical costs in New Zealand are not “friendly”!  The medical costs in New Zealand are considered to be one of the highest in the developed countries. Therefore it is important for you to consider having Travel Insurance whilst you are in New Zealand.

Unfortunately, sometimes sickness may strike you and keeps you out of action for a few days. If you’re feeling unwell on your New Zealand adventure, OrbitProtect can have you covered.

No one should have to miss out on experiences they’ve been planning for months, so should illness occur it’s important to get it sorted out as quickly as possible. The best thing to do is to see the most convenient doctor (General Practitioner /GP). If it’s after hours or on the weekend then the After Hours/24 hour Clinic in your area will be able to help. Making an appointment at a general doctors’ surgery will ensure you can fit your visit in around anything else you may have planned.

When you visit the doctor you will need to fill in forms with some personal details, chat to the receptionist about the best address to include, whether it’s your New Zealand address, (for travellers in one location for more than a few days) or your address in your home country.

When you have finished your appointment you will be required to pay right then and there. This charge could include extras for a blood test, prescription or other necessary procedure. If you are concerned about the cost and paying upfront, have a chat to the friendly staff. They will be able to let you know of the potential costs before your appointment, so you’re not left surprised and out of pocket.

OrbitProtect Insurance offers you cover for the expected medical expenses. When you insure with OrbitProtect, you can submit your claim online without having to post receipts, medical notes and any documents.

Every situation is unique to every individual, so claims will be treated differently as per your insurance policy. If you have any questions or concerns about your cover it is always a good idea to check your policy documents or get in touch with your insurance company   so you know exactly what is covered and what isn’t.
