Are you eligible?
- RSE Protect plans are available to visitors to New Zealand who hold or intend to hold a Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) limited visa or Seasonal Workers who transition to a General Limited Visa as they wait to leave New Zealand
- Seasonal Workers plans are available to everyone travelling to New Zealand who does not hold New Zealand Residence status
How long are you covered for?
Cancellation and loss of deposit cover starts from the day you pay your premium and we send your certificate of insurance.
All other benefits start from when you commence your journey to New Zealand. Generally, your cover will end either on your policy end date or when you leave New Zealand (whichever occurs first). Please see your policy document for more details.
We have created a series of translated helpful health guides for overseas workers – you can download these in the relevant languages for your seasonal workers to help them take care of their health while they are in New Zealand. The guides are designed to provide information about the most common health issues seasonal workers are likely to experience while in shared worker accommodation in New Zealand.
We suggest supplying a copy of the relevant guide as part of an information pack along with their OrbitPay card when your workers first arrive.
If your workers need to see a doctor, physio, dentist or pay for a prescription, we make it as simple as possible for them – they just need to take their OrbitPay Card to their appointment or when they pick up medication. They can then use the OrbitPay Card just like a credit or debit card to make payment.
Make sure that the medical provider is on our list so that you know they will take the card as payment.
If they can’t get to one of our listed OrbitPay providers, they can go to any nearby medical provider, payment can be made as normal and then they can make a claim through our online system to have the payment refunded.
What you need to know
Our eftpos-supported OrbitPay Card system is designed to support seasonal workers to pay for unexpected medical needs without making a claim.
As with any system, you need to know how it works:
- We courier the cards to your workplace.
- These cards are activated by us, meaning if you have a current insurance policy with us, your workers can use them upon arriving in the country.
- The cards are reusable, which means that as long as your worker’s policy is current, the same card can be used when your worker returns to New Zealand. Please ensure they know to keep their card safe even after they return to their home country.
- Keep the card for the duration of the policy. If the card is lost or damaged, we reserve the right to charge a fee of $10 to issue a new card.
- If your worker does not have their card with with them or they are not able to visit one of our authorised medical providers, they will need to first pay for medical costs and then make a claim through our website to be reimbursed.
- While our cover is comprehensive, there are conditions, limitations, and exclusions like any other insurance policy. There may be times when we may need to ask your worker to refund the costs paid with the card that are not covered by their insurance.
- At our discretion, we can deactivate the card at any time. We would, of course, advise you of this as soon as possible.
- We encourage you and your workers to read the appropriate policy wording for our full terms and conditions.
Our approved Medical Providers around New Zealand accept our OrbitPay Card as payment for medical treatment or prescriptions. If you are unable to get an appointment with an approved Medical Provider, you can go to any medical clinic or GP and then claim back your payment through our online Make a Claim page.
