Online video doctor consultations (Telehealth) are now available.

In the midst of COVID-19, we understand that it is a difficult and uncertain time for many of you. As part of our on-going commitment to you, we have taken the initiative to make seeking medical advice as easy and accessible for you as possible.

Over the last 12 months, we have been looking at supporting our policyholders with ‘Telehealth’ service (online video doctor consultations). With COVID-19 making day-to-day matters much more complicated, we have prioritised networking with doctors in this online space. We are now pleased to announce that we are providing Telehealth service with our registered doctor. This convenient Telehealth service is currently being offered to all of our International Student policyholders.

A bit about our doctor, Dr Lisa Amin:

Dr Lisa Amin is a General Practitioner trained in the United Kingdom. She qualified as a GP in 2006 and moved to NZ in 2011. In 2015, as part of a government initiative to provide e-medicals for migrants moving to and working in New Zealand, Dr Amin founded Christchurch Immigration Health and is currently a recognised panel physician for INZ.

Dr Amin is professional, efficient and has a great rapport with her patients. Determined to serve the migrant population of New Zealand, Dr Amin is excited to be able to provide these online video consultations to our customers.

At present, Dr Amin is the sole doctor we have working with us in this space. However, over the coming months, we anticipate other doctors joining us with this Telehealth service.

How will Telehealth work? What should I do if I would like to access this service?

  • Bookings can be arranged by email to service@orbitprotect.com.

 Key points to note:

  • Limited spaces are available with our doctor. If your symptoms deteriorate before being seen, you should contact Medical Centre near you, 24-hour Clinic, or Emergency Department
  • Currently, consultations are not available for accident / injury matters.
  • You are always free to see any doctor in your area, but we do kindly ask you to minimise your costs as best you can (this is a standard insurance requirement).
  • This online video consultation service is currently only available to our International Student policyholders. We will continue to explore the possibilities of offering this service to other policyholders in the future.
  • Please always remember that if it is a medical emergency, call 111.

Insurance Limitations

While our insurance cover is comprehensive, like any other insurance policy there are conditions, limitations and exclusions that may apply. There may be times when we need to ask you to refund the consultation costs you incurred via this booking process or pay in advance of a consultation. We encourage you to read the policy wording for our terms and conditions. Policy wordings are located at www.orbitprotect.com.

You may need to provide us with further supporting information or documentation relating to the consultation. If this is necessary, we would ask for this sometime after your consultation.

Acceptance of a cost and ongoing accreditation of Telehealth is at our discretion.

If you have any questions, and to make a booking, please email us at service@orbitprotect.com.
